In my opinion tattoos are just not beautiful. u should really consider the facts before getting one. ur skin is absolutly beautiful without all that colored ink. so using regularly lotions such as jergens glow can bring out ur natural beautiful skin. hope this helps :) |

I'll actually answer your question without the BS that is already here. Your best bet is to check out reputable rags like Tattoo and the like. In there they have some pretty large suppliers that you will be able to get the basics. It's been a while since i have looked myself, but figure several hundred for a good tattoo gun and the bare essentials. From there you will need some pigskin (best) to practice on. I have heard of people trying grapefruit and other, but pigskin is closest to human skin. You said not to suggest apprenticeship, but in order to build a reputable and successful business, you will need the street credit of having trained under someone. |

Regarding above answer, an apprenticeship only promotes a good reputation if you are only an average artist, if you are amazing then your work speaks for itself, there are alot of myths surrounding tattooing, most of which are just part of a sales pitch used by shop owners, i am self taught and health board approved and i can say that some people are naturally more suited to tattooing, but apprenticeships cater more for people that need an extra push to become just good enough to make a profit. You can contact me for any advice, but use pig skin not fruit, if you cant get a good piece on fruit then well maybe you should work more on drawing first. I can tell you everything you need to know for free as i am a tattoo artist, and wont allow art to be outcasted by the tattoo technicians, but its your choice, good luck with whatever you choose. |
